Ukrainians up net cash euro purchases to $201.5 mln, dollars to $179.1 mln in Sept - NBU
MOSCOW. Oct 8 (Interfax) - Ukrainians bought the equivalent of $521.7 million in cash euros in September, compared with $544.7 million in August, Ukrainian media reported, citing updated statistics from the National Bank of Ukraine.
They sold $320.2 million in cash euros in September, down from $352.2 million in August, so net purchases rose to $201.5 million, from $192.5 million in the previous month.
As for cash dollars, both purchases and sales by members of the public continued to increase: net purchases rose to $179.1 million in September from $168.8 million in August. Sales of non-cash foreign currency exceeded purchases in September for the fifth month in a row, this time by $26.7 million, compared to $7.9 million in August.
Overall, purchases of foreign currency exceeded sales by the equivalent of $356 million in September, compared to $351 million in August and $270 million in July.
Non-cash foreign currency transactions by legal entities - bank clients - increased in September for both purchases and sales: purchases by $632.8 million, to $8.92 billion, and sales by $1 billion to $7.66 billion.
The dollar exchange rate fell 12 kopecks on the currency market to a range of UAH 41.06-41.41/$1, while the official hryvnia exchange rate weakened by 6 kopecks to 41.32 UAH/$1. The euro rate rose by approximately 27 kopecks to UAH 48.18-48.65/EUR 1.
Interbank currency market turnover increased by $635 million over the month to $6.647 billion.
The NBU's net foreign exchange interventions in September decreased to $2.292 billion from $2.697 billion in August 2025 and $3.214 billion in September 2024.
