Russia to increase trade with India - Patrushev
NEW DELHI. Sept 26 (Interfax) - Trade between Russia and India increased 12% in 2024, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev told journalists at the World Food India 2025 exhibition.
"Based on all of this, we can say that trade between Russia and India will increase. It has grown 12%. I think that we will only increase it in the coming years, and improve relations with our partners," Patrushev said.
He said that Russia was taking part in the World Food India 2025 exhibition this year. "Of course, this will help us to boost mutual trade in agricultural produce," he said.
"But aside from this, we have conducted a series of important meetings in which wide-ranging issues were discussed, with various very different agendas. This included the question of increasing bilateral trade in all areas, the signing of a deal between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the Republic of India, the establishment of the BRICS grain exchange, which we consider to be extremely important today [...] as well as developing a strategic partnership between our countries for economic development," Patrushev said.
Some 16 Russian exporters from key agricultural sectors presented their produce at the World Food India 2025 exhibition, including grain, fat and oil products, meat, dairy products, confectionery, ready-made food, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, fish and seafood. More than 30 Russian companies participated in the exhibition as part of an organized business trip to India.
