Ukraine views new four-year IMF program as part of external financing package worth $150-170 billion - finance minister

MOSCOW. Sept 19 (Interfax) - Ukraine tentatively estimates its need for foreign financing for the duration of a new four-year-long program with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the negotiations on which had started in September, as between $150 billion and $170 billion, Ukrainian Finance Minister Sergei Marchenko said.

"Overall, the need for funding of the four-year-long program could reach between $150 billion and $170 billion for the four-year period," Ukrainian media outlets quoted him as saying on Friday.

Marchenko also said that the unmet need for external financing for 2026 currently stands at $18 billion in line with the average annual exchange rate of UAH 45.7 to $1.

According to the government's draft state budget for 2026, the total need for external financing is UAH 2.8 trillion ($45.5 billion at the budget rate), including deficit and the need to pay external debt obligations, he said.
