European Council president calls on Hungary to stop buying Russian oil

MOSCOW. Sept 5 (Interfax) - The Hungarian authorities should stop importing oil from Russia, European Council President Antonio Costa said during a visit to Ukraine.

Costa was quoted by Ukrainian media as saying on Friday that the European Union has reduced the consumption of gas and oil from Russia by 80%, and Hungary accounts for the bulk of this remaining 20%.

Moscow will face additional pressure if Hungary stops importing Russian oil and gas, he said.

At the same time, Costa called on Ukraine to continue implementing reforms needed to join the EU.
