Russian-Indian cooperation on energy equipment has potential, including for exports - ministry

VLADIVOSTOK. Sept 3 (Interfax) - Russia and India have potential to produce energy equipment and could expand cooperation by forming joint ventures to manufacture products for which there would be demand in third countries, Deputy Energy Minister Roman Marshavin said.

"Industrial cooperation opens up new opportunities for us. This could involve attracting Indian suppliers of components to expand production of all kinds of equipment by our companies inside Russia and for joint production, specifically of energy equipment and its subsequent export to third countries, including to Africa," Marshavin said at the Russia-India: Economy of the Future business lunch at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).

He said Russia's strong suit could be domestic engineering solutions, while Indian companies have reached a new technological level and are capable of setting up mass production very quickly.

"This is a win-win situation, so I won't say that there could be some harm from competition. Rather benefit from cooperation," Marshavin said.

He also said that tariff wars and sanctions of third countries have already strengthened energy cooperation between Russia and India, and Russian exports of energy resources to the country increased by about 15% in the first half of 2025.
