Russian State Duma speaker arrives in Beijing

BEIJING. Aug 25 (Interfax) - A Russian parliamentary delegation led by State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin arrived in China on Monday on an official visit at the invitation of National People's Congress Standing Committee Chairman Zhao Leji.

The visit includes a series of meetings and the tenth session of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Commission of the Russian Federal Assembly and the Chinese National People's Congress, the State Duma's press service said in a statement.

The sides will address the development of bilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation and the closer interaction in various areas, such as the economy, security, tourism, culture, education, science and so on, it said.

The agenda of the tenth session of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission also includes countering sanctions pressure and external interference, expansion of trade and economic relations, protection of the historical truth, and youth exchanges aimed to bolster humanitarian cooperation, Volodin said on Max.

"Relations between our country and China are based on the principles of friendship, confidence, mutually advantageous cooperation, non-interference in affairs of sovereign states, and exclusion of double standards," Volodin said.
