Rosatom entity mulling subsidiary in China to supply equipment to NPPs under construction
MOSCOW. Aug 22 (Interfax) - The state Rosatom corporation's JSC Holding Company GSA is thinking of setting up a subsidiary in China, according to company information on the public procurement website.
The procurement tender includes preparation of a report on the opening of a subsidiary in China and the company's registration.
A subsidiary in China is being considered to ensure the production and supply of foreign-made equipment to nuclear power plants under construction in Russia and elsewhere, the information says.
The new company plans activity related to procurement procedures and international payments, ordering and supplying equipment, obtaining security for advances and contract execution by manufacturers, obtaining funding for supply contracts, seeking contractors and suppliers and conducting negotiations.
The contractor will analyze China's tax environment, given the planned activities of the company being established, in particular the purchase and export of equipment from China and the purchase and supply of equipment outside China.
"This tender is to explore the possibility of creating such a legal entity, not to order specific equipment," the Rosatom press service told Interfax.
JSC Holding Company GSA was registered in 2023. According to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, its main activity is wholesale in machinery, industrial equipment, ships and aircraft, as well as holding company activity. Earlier in July, Holding Company GSA, together with another Rosatom entity, Management Company GSA, founded Energoflot LLC, which, according to the USRLE, may engage in the construction of ships, vessels, floating structures and electricity trading.
Rosatom's 10-year overseas order portfolio was worth $128.8 billion in 2024 and its portfolio of overseas orders over the entire life cycle was $200.4 billion. Rosatom will launch a series of new projects abroad, both in neighboring countries and elsewhere, in the near future, Rosatom head Alexei Likhachev said at the Federation Council in May.
