Uzbekistan ready to participate in development of Caspian shelf together with Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan

BAKU. Aug 22 (Interfax) - Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has proposed that Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan explore opportunities for cooperation in developing fields on the Caspian shelf, the Uzbek leader's press service said.

The proposals were voiced during a trilateral meeting of the countries' presidents - Mirziyoyev, Azerbaijan's Ilham Aliyev and Turkmenistan's Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow.

"In terms of traditional hydrocarbons, it was proposed that the prospects for cooperation in geological exploration and developing fields on the Caspian shelf be explored," the press service said.

Mirziyoyev also noted the need to deepen cooperation and develop corridors for exporting energy resources to third countries. "In this regard, the project for organizing supplies of green energy to Europe was called promising," the press service said.

In addition, Uzbekistan expressed interest in creating its own ferry capacities for transporting goods across the Caspian Sea.
