Kaspersky Lab now holds 90% stake in developer of container IT infrastructure protection Ximi Pro
MOSCOW. Aug 1 (Interfax) - Kaspersky Lab increased its stake in Ximi Pro, a developer of container IT infrastructure protection software, from 49% to 90% in a deal signed on July 31, according to data from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities (USRLE).
JSC Kaspersky Lab increased its stake after signing a deal with the company's co-owners, Mikhail Tainov and Artem Tovbin, decreasing the individuals' respective stakes to 5.5% and 4.5%.
JSC Kaspersky Lab became a co-owner of Ximi Pro in February 2023.
Ximi Pro develops security solutions for container IT infrastructure, containerization being a type of virtualization which allows third-party applications to be launched in isolation from the operating system, as well as the Tron software, which provides extensive protection for containerized applications.
Commenting on the deal, Kaspersky Lab's technical director, Anton Ivanov, told Interfax that the company "continued to invest in the most promising areas of information security, and Kaspersky Container Security is one of them".
"Sales of our container infrastructure security product have grown solidly on both domestic and global markets. Internationally, we are seeing the highest demand for Kaspersky Container Security in regions of the Middle East, where our product is holding out well in competition with international industry leaders. We are continuing to actively develop this product and are going to add artificial intelligence functionality to it this year, making the process of securely configuring container infrastructure significantly easier," Ivanov said.
