Minsk Tractor Plant begins supply of tractor kits for assembly in Uzbekistan

MINSK. July 7 (Interfax) - The Minsk Tractor Plant (MTP) will supply over 3,000 tractors to Uzbekistan by the end of this year, along with tractor kits for local assembly in the country, the Belarusian enterprise's press service said.

"This year we have launched a large-scale project in Uzbekistan. A joint assembly facility for Belarus-brand tractors with 80 to 212 horsepower has been established in the city of Nurafshon. The first shipments of tractor kits to Uzbekistan have already begun," Mikhail Vardugin, the deputy marketing director for commercial operations in Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries and head of the CIS Product Promotion and Sales Department at OJSC MTP, was quoted as saying by the press service.

There are currently seven Belarus tractor assembly facilities operating in the CIS - three in Kazakhstan and one each in Russia, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. "In addition, according to Mikhail Vardugin, two investment projects for developing assembly facilities in Russia based on MTP-Tatarstan and MTP-Northwest trading houses are under consideration," the press service said.

The Minsk Tractor Plant is one of the largest producers of tractors and agricultural machinery in the CIS. The plant manufactures wheeled agricultural tractors, loading and transport vehicles, loading and unloading equipment, skidding tractors, forestry and utility vehicles, loaders and universal chassis.
