UK to raise import duties on nitrogenous fertilizers from Russia and Belarus from July 18

MOSCOW. June 30 (Interfax) - The UK will introduce additional import duties for nitrogenous fertilizers from Russia and Belarus as of July 18, the UK Department for Business and Trade reported.

The duties will be raised in multiple stages over three years, in a similar way to the measures taken by the European Union. The additional duty will increase from 10% on July 18 to 20% on July 1, 2026 and 35% on July 1, 2027.

The general duty which all UK importers must pay to import nitrogenous fertilizers ranges from 6% to 6.5%, depending on the product type.

In March 2022, the UK imposed additional import duties of 35% for key Russian and Belarusian goods, valid for all types of fertilizer but nitrogenous.
