Armenian president, EU foreign policy chief discuss energy, bilateral cooperation in Yerevan
YEREVAN. June 30 (Interfax) - Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan and EU High Representative for Foreign Relations and Security Policy Kaja Kallas met in Yerevan on Sunday to discuss energy cooperation and Armenia-EU relations.
"The Republic of Armenia has today adopted a path which, in general terms, can be described as the path of democracy, and in this regard, cooperation with the European Union is of great importance. I can say that our cooperation has been successful, encompassing all areas of our life in political, economic, social, parliamentary, and local levels. We also highly appreciate the support provided by the European Union in helping Armenia face external political challenges," the presidential press service quoted Khachaturyan as saying.
In turn, Kallas said she appreciated close cooperation with Armenia and voiced the EU's interest in lasting peace in the region.
The sides discussed a broad range of issues of Armenia-EU multifaceted relations and opportunities for expanding energy cooperation, including that in renewable and green energy, and underlined the importance of promoting Armenia-EU interaction and drafting new initiatives to this end.
