Russia, Kazakhstan discuss terms for Russian oil and gas supplies, transit
ST. PETERSBURG. June 20 (Interfax) - Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak has discussed expanding Russian-Kazakh cooperation in the electricity and oil and gas sectors with Kazakh First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar, the government's press service said.
The parties also discussed the terms for Russian oil and gas supplies to Kazakhstan and transit through its territory.
"We consider Kazakhstan our closest ally and strategic partner," Novak said. Bilateral cooperation is developing across the trade, economic and investment spheres, with large-scale joint projects underway in industry, energy, transport infrastructure, agriculture and the digital economy, he said. Russia remains Kazakhstan's largest investor, with investment growing 25% year-on-year in 2024.
On Wednesday, President Vladimir Putin said that Russia and Kazakhstan are discussing joint operations in third-country gas markets.
