Ukraine needs to import at least 4.6 bcm of gas in 2025 - energy minister

MOSCOW. June 20 (Interfax) - Ukraine will have to import at least 4.6 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas in 2025, including 2.9 bcm already secured by contracts, Energy Minister German Galushchenko said.

"We will be importing larger amounts of gas this year than in previous periods. The minimal volume we will import this year is 4.6 bcm. Of that, 2.9 bcm is already secured by contracts. I mean contracts confirmed from a financial standpoint," Galushchenko said during a government Q&A session in parliament on Friday.

Ukraine will be fully provided with gas in the 2025-2026 heating season, he said.

"We will have the required amount of gas for the fall-winter season to supply both households, businesses and for electricity generation," he said.
