Ukrainian State Border Guard Service provides border-crossing statistics

MOSCOW. June 9 (Interfax) - Passenger traffic across the Ukrainian border grew 13.2% on May 31 - June 6 to 573,000 travelers, Ukrainian media said, referring to a statement by the State Border Guard Service on a social network.

Departures spiked from 253,000 to 311,000, while arrivals grew from 253,000 to 262,000, the media said.

There was an uptick in the number of vehicles crossing the border over the week, from 124,000 to 125,000, whereas the number of humanitarian trucks decreased slightly, from 524 to 514.

The National Bank of Ukraine again estimated the outflow from Ukraine at 0.5 million in 2024 in its inflation report for April (versus 0.315 million estimated by the State Border Guard Service). In absolute terms, the number of migrants staying abroad increased to 6.8 million last year. The National Bank of Ukraine confirmed its outflow forecast for 2025 at 0.2 million.

According to an update from the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, there were 6.918 million Ukrainian refugees worldwide, including 6.358 million in Europe, as of April 17, 2025, which is 15,000 fewer than on March 20.

The UN update estimated the number of internally displaced persons in Ukraine at 3.669 million as of the end of last year.
