Russia, Ukraine to immediately begin talks to reach ceasefire - Trump

WASHINGTON. May 19 (Interfax) - The Russian and Ukrainian sides will immediately begin negotiations to resolve the Ukraine situation, U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday following a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"Russia and Ukraine will immediately start negotiations toward a Ceasefire and, more importantly, an end to the war," Trump wrote on the Truth Social network.

He said that Moscow and Kiev should conduct such talks themselves, as only they have an idea of all the details.

"The conditions for that [crisis settlement] will be negotiated between the two parties, as it can only be, because they know details of a negotiation that nobody else would be aware of," Trump added.
