Putin: agreed with Trump that Russia is ready to work on memorandum on future peace agreement with Ukraine, including temporary ceasefire

SIRIUS FEDERAL TERRITORY. May 19 (Interfax) - Russia is ready to work on a memorandum regarding a future peace agreement with Ukraine, which would include a possible ceasefire for a certain period, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Monday.

"I have agreed with the U.S. president that Russia would propose and is ready to work with Ukraine on a memorandum regarding a future peace agreement to determine a number of provisions such as, for instance, the principles of [conflict] settlement, a timetable for a possible conclusion of a peace agreement, and so on, including a possible ceasefire for a certain period in case relevant agreements have been reached," Putin told journalists.

Contacts between participants in the Russia-Ukraine talks in Istanbul have resumed, and "this gives reason to assume that we are on the right track overall," Putin said.

The conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump was very constructive, he said. "I rate it highly," Putin said.

The two leaders held the telephone conversation earlier on Monday, their third since the beginning of the year.
