MINSK. May 12 (Interfax) - Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has promised to visit Vietnam shortly.

"I promise that you and I will meet in your home country shortly. We will be able to start implementing today's agreements to an extent," Lukashenko said at negotiations with Vietnamese Communist Party Central Committee Secretary General To Lam in response to his invitation to visit Vietnam.

The Belarusian state-run news agency BelTA quoted Lukashenko as saying.

Lukashenko thanked To Lam for inviting him to visit Vietnam and said he was hoping to deepen bilateral cooperation.

"We believe we will draft a number of other essential, specific agreements and will sign them in your capital," Lukashenko said.
