Russian energy minister: Russia to find consumers for products that EU will refuse to buy, as demand is high
MOSCOW. May 12 (Interfax) - Russia will find other consumers for its products, and not only for those in the oil and gas sectors, should they be rejected by the European Union, which is discussing another embargo, the global demand is high, Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev told reporters on Thursday.
This is not the first time the EU is imposing sanctions on the purchase of Russian products, but Russia is finding ways to sell them to other markets, as "they are in demand globally," he said.
"There are many consumers who want to take these products. We believe that measures in the form of sanctions are illegal, counterproductive, including for residents of these same countries, and we are already seeing what consequences are resulting from this," he said
"We think that, of course, it is quite possible that they will put their statements into practice, but we will find an opportunity to supply our products to those who are interested in them. And the demand for our products is large, not only for oil, gas and petroleum products, the demand is high," he added.
As reported, this week the EU announced a roadmap to abandon the purchase of Russian gas by the end of 2027. The EU also wants to give up purchases of uranium and nuclear fuel from Russia, but the terms have not been outlined. These proposals still need to be endorsed.
