Ukrainian State Border Service updates border crossing statistics

MOSCOW. May 5 (Interfax) - The number of people who crossed Ukraine's western borders over the week from April 26 to May 2 increased by 18.8% to 557,000, with a net outflow declining to 17,000 people from 31,000 the week before, Ukrainian media reported referring to the State Border Service's social media post.

The number of people who crossed into Ukraine last week rose by 23.3% to 270,000 from 219,000 the week before, while the number of those leaving Ukraine grew by 14.8% to 287,000 from 250,000, it said.

The number of vehicles crossing the border increased to 126,000 from 102,000, while the number of vehicles carrying humanitarian aid cleared to cross the border rose to 546 from 430 the week before.

According to the United Nations Refugee Agency's reports updated on April 17, 2025, the number of Ukrainian refugees around the world was estimated at 6.918 million, or 15,000 fewer than on March 20, 2025, including 6.358 million in European countries outside of Ukraine.

Inside Ukraine, according to the UN's data as of the end of 2024, there were around 3.669 million internally displaced persons (IDPs).
