Wizz Air planning resumption of flights to, from Ukraine

MOSCOW. March 25 (Interfax) - The European low-cost airline Wizz Air has drafted a plan to resume flights to and from Ukraine once the Ukrainian airspace reopens and to transport 5 million passengers per year, Ukrainian media said, citing Wizz Air CEO Jozsef Varadi as saying at a conference in Kiev.

"We are not only considering flying to Ukraine, but also planning to fly from Ukraine, setting up our base operations there. We have big plans for Ukraine. [...] We have drafted a plan to create a network of about 400 routes within the first six months. When you (Kyiv) are ready, we will be ready," Varadi said.

In his words, Wizz Air representatives have paid several visits to Ukraine for talks with interested parties, including Ukrainian airports.

"We are very close to concluding commercial agreements with every one of them [airports]," Varadi said.

As reported, the management of the Kiev Borispol international airport met with Wizz Air representatives in Budapest to discuss the prompt beginning of flights after the Ukrainian airspace reopening.
