Armenia-EAEU relations normal, work goes on - Armenian PM

YEREVAN. Feb 5 (Interfax) - Armenia keeps working within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) while diversifying foreign relations, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said.

"We continue to be a member of the Eurasian Economic Union. I would assess our relations in the Eurasian Economic Union as normal. The Eurasian Economic Union is acting and we are working in that framework," Pashinyan said at the Atlantic Council in Washington.

Armenia has suspended participation in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), "which was our main security partner," Pashinyan said.

"The reason for that decision was the situation when the CSTO did not deliver on its own obligations in terms of securing the security of the Republic of Armenia," he said.

"I should say that now in general we are in the process of diversifying our foreign relations in all fields from economy to security," Pashinyan said.

Armenia has raised the level of its independence and sovereignty, but full security would require comprehensive peace in the region, he said.

Yerevan counts on support by international partners, Pashinyan said.

A political will is all it takes to finalize the work on a draft peace agreement with Azerbaijan, sign it and achieve enduring peace, he said.

Pashinyan added that he was also hoping to settle relations with Turkey.

There are some nuances and certain final steps need to be taken to achieve tangible results, he said, adding he hopes to achieve these results very soon.
