MOSCOW. Jan 24 (Interfax) - The former first deputy governor of the Central Bank of Russia, Olga Skorobogatova, may join the management board of VTB , Frank Media reported, citing three sources.
In her new role, Skorobogatova will oversee international payments and related activities and possibly the fintech sector, the publication's sources said.
VTB's press service declined to comment on this information.
Skorobogatova left the CBR in December 2024, saying that she had decided to continue her career outside the central bank. She worked at the Central Bank from 2014 and was appointed first deputy governor in September 2017. During her tenure, she oversaw four departments - for the National Payment System, financial technologies, information technologies, and the operations department.
Under Skorobogatova's leadership, the National Payment Card System (NPCS), the operator of Mir cards, was developed. She also oversaw the creation of the Faster Payments System (FPS). In addition, Skorobogatova oversaw the development of the digital ruble, Russia's third form of national currency, which the Central Bank plans to introduce alongside existing cash and non-cash money.
