UN forecasts economic growth of 5.6% in Kyrgyzstan
BISHKEK. Jan 13 (Interfax) - The United Nations expects economic growth in Kyrgyzstan to be 5.6% this year, the organization said in its World Economics Situation and Prospects 2025 report.
"Tourism has become an important growth driver in Kyrgyzstan," the UN said.
It predicts that the country's GDP growth will slow to 4.3% in 2026.
Kyrgyzstan's GDP grew 8% in 2024 after growing 6.2% in 2023, according to UN estimates.
Average annual inflation in Kyrgyzstan will be 4.8% in 2025 and 3.9% in 2026, it said. Average annual inflation slowed to 4.5% in 2024 from 10.7% in 2023, it said.
The Kyrgyz Economy Ministry forecasted economic growth of 6.1% last year and annual inflation at 6.6%. It is forecasting 6% economic growth and 5.8% annual inflation for 2025.
