UN forecasts acceleration of Moldovan economic growth in 2025 to 3.2%

CHISINAU. Jan 10 (Interfax) - The United Nations expects Moldova's economic growth to be 3.2% in 2025, the organization said in its World Economics Situation and Prospects 2025 report.

It forecasts a slowdown in the country's GDP growth to 3% in 2026.

Moldova's GDP grew 2.5% in 2024, according to UN estimates.

Inflation in the country stood at 4.5% in 2024, and it is estimated that it will fall to 3.6% in 2025 and 3.3% in 2026, the UN said.

The Moldovan Economy Ministry forecasts that the country's GDP will grow 2.5%-3% in 2025. Economic growth stood at 0.6% in January-September 2024.

The International Monetary Fund forecasts that Moldova's GDP could grow by 3.7% in 2025. The World Bank anticipates growth of 3.9%, the European Commission 3.8%, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development 3.5% and the ratings agency Fitch 3.6%.

Moldova's GDP rose 0.7% in 2023 after falling 5.9% in 2022.
