EU working on 16th package of Russia sanctions - Italian PM

ROME. Dec 17 (Interfax) - The European Union countries are conducting consultations on a new package of sanctions on Russia, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said on Tuesday.

"Italy will continue to play its role as concerns sanctions. [...] We recently supported the 15th sanction package, and work on the 16th is underway now," Meloni said at the Italian parliament.

The EU published the 15th package of Russia sanctions on Monday, which includes restrictions on a number of tankers for carrying oil and liquefied natural gas and puts dozens of new individuals and entities on sanction lists.
