Ukrainian State Border Service updates border crossing statistics
MOSCOW. Dec 9 (Interfax) - The number of border crossings in Ukraine increased by 3.7% to around 452,000 between November 30 and December 6 compared to the previous week, Ukrainian media reported with reference to the State Border Service's social media post.
The number of people who departed Ukraine increased in this period to 229,000 from 222,000, and the number of those who crossed into the country increased to 223,000 from 214,000 week on week, it said.
As usual, departures from Friday to Saturday and entries from Saturday to Monday were more intensive than during the rest of the week, it said.
The number of vehicles crossing the border increased to 122,000 from 118,000 a week before, while the number of vehicles carrying humanitarian aid cleared to cross the border declined to 565 from 577.
According to the United Nations Refugee Agency's reports updated on November 18, 2024, the number of Ukrainian refugees around the world was estimated at 6.786 million, or 34,000 more than on October 15, including 6.226 million in European countries outside of Ukraine.
Inside Ukraine, according to the UN data as of August 2024, there were 3.669 million internally displaced persons (IDPs), or 121,000 more than in April 2024.
