Agricultural output in Kazakhstan up 12.7% in 10M
ASTANA. Nov 15 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan's agricultural output rose 12.7% year-on-year in January-October 2024 to 7.052 trillion tenge, the Strategic Planning and Reforms Agency's National Statistics Bureau said.
Meat and dairy production rose 3.3% to 2.578 trillion tenge and crop production was up 18.8% at 4.425 trillion tenge.
The number of cattle at farms in Kazakhstan grew 20.6% year-on-year to 8.239 million as of October 31, sheep 11.6% to 20.471 million and horses 4.9% to 4.132 million, while the number of goats fell 14% to 1.782 million, pigs 8.1% to 481,900 and poultry 0.5% to 46.12 million.
Kazakh Agriculture Minister Aidarbek Saparov said at the end of June that longstanding inaccuracies in the country's agricultural statistics had led to inflated figures. The ministry plans to correct the records following the review by removing 2 million misreported livestock and 3 million tonnes of milk. Work is ongoing to verify crop production numbers, Saparov said. He said that while Kazakhstan annually produced around 6.5 million tonnes of milk, only 2.1 million tonnes are processed annually.
