SOCAR, Italgas sign agreement on gas leak cooperation

BAKU. Nov 13 (Interfax) - The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and Italy's Italgas have signed an agreement on cooperation in the gas industry, SOCAR said.

SOCAR Vice President Elshad Nasirov and Italgas CEO Paolo Gallo signed the agreement on Tuesday.

"To accelerate the energy transition and digitalization, the companies have agreed to exchange best practices and technologies and also cooperate on infrastructure decarbonization by uncovering gas leaks using the Picarro technology. They will use the existing flexible methodology for digitalization," a press release said.

The document aims to strengthen the two sides' strategic partnership through innovation, efficiency and sustainability in gas distribution, SOCAR said.

Italgas S.p.A. is an Italian company specializing in the distribution of natural gas.
