Russia sees India as significant partner to develop Northern Sea Route, North-South ITC - Manturov

NEW DELHI. Nov 12 (Interfax) - Russia is counting on India's strategic participation in developing new transport routes, namely the Northern Sea Route (NSR) and the North-South corridor, First Deputy Prime Minister and Co-Chairman of the Russia-India IGC for Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation Denis Manturov said during the intergovernmental commission's latest meeting.

"We are counting on India as a significant partner in strategic projects in the area of international logistics. I primarily have in mind developing the Northern Sea Route and the North-South corridor," Manturov said.

Manturov also said that launching the new routes, including container routes, would substantially reduce the logistics costs for commercial operators.
