Azerbaijan's Aliyev, EU's Michel discuss peace talks between Baku, Yerevan
BAKU. Nov 11 (Interfax) - Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met with President of the European Council Charles Michel on the sidelines of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) on Monday.
Aliyev and Michel discussed prospects for developing relations between the European Union and Azerbaijan, a statement on the Azerbaijani presidential website says.
Aliyev also praised Michel's mediating role in the negotiating process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, "noting that under his mediation, the structure of the negotiation process and the agenda on key issues between Armenia and Azerbaijan were established," it said.
Aliyev and Michel also discussed COP29 in Azerbaijan.
Michel congratulated Azerbaijan on hosting COP29 and wished it to successfully hold the event. "He expressed hope that important decisions on climate change would be made at this event. He also emphasized that climate change is one of the priority and crucial topics on the European Union's agenda," it said.
