Lukashenko: Conclusions drawn from 2020 presidential election in Belarus, we will act consistent with people's needs
MINSK. Nov 5 (Interfax) - Conclusions have been drawn from the 2020 events in Belarus, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said at a meeting on the 2025 presidential election in Belarus.
"Everyone should realize that we have gained experience over the years and understand that power cannot be held with wide spread hands. We are not going to do it," the Belarusian state-run news agency BelTA quoted Lukashenko as saying on Tuesday.
Everyone has drawn conclusions from the 2020 situation, when the presidential election ended in protests and arrests, he said.
"We have drawn conclusions from 2020. So, we will act consistent with the needs of our country and our people," Lukashenko said,
The Belarusian presidential election has been scheduled for January 26, 2025.
