Azerbaijan boosts gas supplies to Italy 3.2% in Jan-August
BAKU. Oct 30 (Interfax) - Azerbaijan boosted supplies of natural gas to Italy via the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) 3.2% year-on-year to 6.741 billion cubic meters in January-August 2024, Italy's Environment and Energy Security Ministry said.
Italy imported 38.999 bcm of natural gas overall in the first eight months of the year, down 3% year-on-year, with the share of Azerbaijani gas accounting for 17.3%.
The ministry said that Azerbaijan cut gas supplies to Italy 19.2% year-on-year to 665 million cubic meters in August, or 17.8% of overall natural gas imports estimated at 3.726 bcm, down 1.8% year-on-year.
Italy received 9.988 bcm of gas from Azerbaijan via TAP in 2023, down 3.2% year-on-year, and Azerbaijan plans to supply 9.6 bcm of gas to Italy in 2024.
Azerbaijan began exporting gas to Europe on December 31, 2022.
