Ukraine, Romania sign agreement on cooperation in preventing emergencies

MOSCOW. Oct 21 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Interior Minister Igor Klimenko and his Romanian counterpart Catalin Predoiu signed an agreement on cooperation in preventing, limiting and mitigating the consequences of emergencies at a meeting in Bucharest on Friday.

"The fire and rescue agencies of our countries will respond more rapidly to requests for help and will work together to prevent emergency situations," Ukrainian media outlets quoted Klimenko as saying in a statement on social media.

"We are interested in the track record of the performance of Romania's RO-Alert population warning system. Therefore, Minister Predoiu and I agreed that specialists from Ukraine's State Emergency Service would go to Romania to study this system in greater detail and to conduct joint training," he said.
