Kazakhstan expects to harvest 25 mln tonnes of grain in 2024

ALMATY. Oct 7 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan expects to harvest 25 million tonnes of grain in 2024, the country's Agriculture Ministry told Interfax, attributing the positive outlook to effective measures and favorable weather conditions.

"The implemented measures and favorable weather conditions during the growing season allow us to forecast a good grain harvest. Taking all factors into account, we anticipate harvesting 25 million tonnes of grain this year," the ministry said.

The Agriculture Ministry said that the average yield has increased by 5 centners per hectare to 14.8 c/ha compared to last year.

As previously reported, Kazakhstan's farmers had harvested 15 million hectares of grain and leguminous crops as on October 4 at an average yield of 15 c/ha, with nearly 22.7 million tonnes of grain threshed.

The area sown with grain and leguminous crops totals 16.7 million hectares, meaning that Kazakhstan's farmers have harvested over 89.8% of the grain area.

Kazakhstan had previously forecast harvesting 13-14 million tonnes of grain in 2024, with the government subsequently raising the outlook to at least 20 million tonnes.

Kazakh farmers threshed 16.6 million tonnes of grain, including 12.11 million tonnes of wheat, at an average grain yield of 9.7 c/ha in 2023, and harvested 21.6 million tonnes of grain in 2022.
