Ukrposhta won't raise tariffs in 2024, plans to launch new mobile app

MOSCOW. Oct 3 (Interfax) - Ukraine's postal operator Ukrposhta will keep its current delivery tariffs until the end of 2024, but will switch to automated parcel sorting in a bid to reduce the time of delivery, the state-owned company's general director Igor Smilyansky said.

Ukrposhta also plans to launch a new convenient mobile application, Ukrainian media outlets cited Smilyansky as saying in a statement on social media.

"We understand the decision of companies, which have chosen to raise their tariffs due to growing costs. We also considered this option. But, bearing in mind a potentially difficult winter and the tax hikes to finance the army, we decided to support Ukrainian businesses and consumers by keeping affordable tariffs both inside the country and for delivery abroad, for our exporters," he said.

Ukrposhta's decision not to change its tariffs will hopefully encourage businesses to increase shipments via the postal service, he said.

Businesses and clients require not only affordable tariffs, but also high-quality delivery services. Therefore, Ukrposhta will do all it can to cut the time of delivery and improve its quality, Smilyansky said.

Ukrposhta will use automated sorting of 100% of parcels in October, a move than should help cut the delivery time, he said.

As previously reported, Nova Poshta, Ukraine's largest logistics operator, raised its document, parcel and cargo delivery tariffs by an average of ten hryvni from October 1.
