MOSCOW. Sept 27 (Interfax) - The BRICS countries' ministers of science, technology and innovation will discuss ways to expand scientific cooperation and youth exchanges, Russian Science and Higher Education Minister Valery Falkov said.

"During the year of Russia's BRICS chairmanship, we continued to take steps to expand cooperation, implement earlier reached agreements and introduce new initiatives," Falkov said at a meeting of the BRICS states' ministers of science, technology and innovation on Friday.

The meeting's agenda also includes international cooperation within various research institutions, as well as on environmental issues, he said.

"We will also discuss the prospect of promoting youth exchanges and broadening scientific cooperation in areas of mutual interest," he said.

In addition, it is time to discuss approaches to creating a common scientometric database "guided by the principles of transparency, openness and independence," Falkov said.
