Chief engineer of Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries becomes CEO
ALMATY. Sept 10 (Interfax) - Damir Ashimov has been appointed CEO of the polypropylene project of Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries Inc (KPI), the press service of JSC KazMunayGas (KMG) reported.
Ashimov replaces Daniyar Tiyesov, who held this position since July 2018.
Ashimov began his career as an operator of process units at the Pavlodar Petrochemical Plant. Since 2018, he has worked at KPI LLP in managerial positions, most recently as director of production - chief engineer of the company.
The polypropylene production plant of Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries Inc LLP was commissioned at the beginning of November 2022. The capacity of the plant is 500,000 tonnes of polypropylene per year, and the raw material used is propane from the Tengiz field. The construction of the complex cost $2.63 billion.
National Company KazMunayGas (49.5%), PJSC SIBUR Holding (40%), SK Ondeu LLP (9.5%), Firma Almex Plus LLP (1%) are the project stakeholders. The general contractor is China National Chemical Engineering Co. (CNCEC), the technology licensor is Lummus Technology.
