Base rate in Kazakhstan could stay at 14.25% in 2024, fall to 11.9% in 2025 - National Bank
ALMATY. Sept 9 (Interfax) - The National Bank of Kazakhstan's Monetary Policy Committee predicts that the base rate will be kept at 14.25% until the end of the year, the regulator said in its Monetary Policy Report for August.
The base rate could be reduced to 11.9% in 2025 and to 10% in 2026.
However, the National Bank said it had no obligation to follow this rate trajectory.
The National Bank has said it would start publishing an assessment of the future path of the base rate from September 2024 to make communication policy more transparent.
On August 29, the National Bank of Kazakhstan kept the base rate at 14.25%. The next decision on the base rate will be taken on October 11.
