Saudi Arabia the biggest buyer of Russian grain in July - Exporters Union
MOSCOW. Aug 6 (Interfax) - Saudi Arabia was the biggest buyer of Russian grain in July, the first month of the new agricultural season, the Grain Exporters Union said.
This became possible due to bulk purchases of barley and wheat totaling 712,000 tonnes.
Egypt was second with 529,000 tonnes overall, the Union said. It retained first place in wheat purchases with 500,000 tonnes, according to the Rusagrotrans analytical center.
Libya was third, importing 317,000 tonnes wheat and other grains.
Morocco literally burst into the ranks of leading buyers with 314,000 tonnes. "The Kingdom has every chance of remaining among the top five buyers of Russian grain throughout the season, which is bad news for wheat exporters from France," the Union said.
Bangladesh was fifth, buying 253,000 tonnes of wheat. "The country has found itself in the risk zone for Russian supplies due to the recent dramatic events that led to the prime minister's resignation and could change food security policy, including for grain purchases," the report says.
