Ukraine boots output of rolled products 32%, steel 37% in H1 2024

MOSCOW. July 9 (Interfax) - Ukraine's metal enterprises boosted production of rolled products 32.2% year-on-year to 3.14 million tonnes in H1 2024, Ukrainian media reported, citing operating data in the industry.

Ukrmetallurgprom association data indicate that steel output surged 37% year-on-year to 3.874 million tonnes and pig iron production rose 22.3% year-on-year to 3.467 million tonnes in the reporting period.

Ukraine increased the production of rolled products 0.4% year-on-year to 5.372 million tonnes in 2023, though trimmed steel output 0.6% year-on-year to 6.228 million tonnes and pig iron production 6.1% year-on-year to 6.003 million tonnes in the reporting period.

Production of rolled products plummeted 72% year-on-year to 5.35 million tonnes, steel output plunged 70.7% year-on-year to 6.263 million tonnes, and pig iron production fell 69.8% year-on-year to 6.391 million tonnes in 2022.

The country produced 21.165 million tonnes of pig iron, an increase of 3.6% year-on-year; 21.366 million tonnes of steel, growth of 3.6% year-on-year; and 19.079 million tonnes of rolled products, a rise of 3.5% year-on-year, in 2021.
