Lavrov to visit NYC in mid-July for UNSC events - Russian Foreign Ministry
MOSCOW. July 3 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will visit New York in the middle of July for events of the Russian presidency of the UN Security Council, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.
"I can confirm the current plans for Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to chair two keynote events, the open debates on multilateral cooperation for a just, democratic and sustainable world order due on July 16 and the open debate on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestine issue, due on July 17," Deputy Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry's Information and Press Department Andrei Nastasyin said at a press briefing.
Further program of the minister is being drafted, and "numerous requests for bilateral contacts on the sidelines are being made," he said.
"U.S. representatives did not make such requests," Nastasyin said, in response to a question whether Lavrov was planning contacts with representatives of the United States and other Western nations.
