Kazakhstan, China sign over 40 agreements worth $3.7 bln at Business Council in Astana

ASTANA. July 2 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan and China signed more than 40 agreements worth over $3.7 billion at the seventh Kazakh-Chinese Business Council, Nurlan Zhakupov, CEO of Samruk-Kazyna JSC, said.

"As part of the visit of the President of the People's Republic of China, we held the VII Kazakh-Chinese Business Council, within the framework of which more than 40 agreements were signed between Kazakh and Chinese businesses worth more than $3.7 billion," Zhakupov told reporters on the sidelines of the Business Council in Astana.

He said agreements were signed in such areas as energy, renewable energy sources, logistics, infrastructure and others.

In particular, the Samruk-Kazyna group of companies signed an agreement with SANY Renewable for the construction of a plant that will produce equipment for wind power plants in the Zhambyl region. Construction should begin before the end of 2024, and the plant's commissioning is scheduled for the end of 2025.

He also said agreements had been signed regarding cooperation with Chinese companies in the agricultural sector, infrastructure, ecology and other areas.
