FAS supports restrictions on diesel fuel exports by non-manufacturers, no proposals have been received on gasoline exports to date in July - Shaskolsky
MOSCOW. June 19 (Interfax) - The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia supports the idea of introducing restrictions on the export of diesel fuel for non-producers, the head of the agency, Maxim Shaskolsky, told journalists on the sidelines of the Antimonopoly Forum 2024.
Answering the question of how he assesses the proposal to ban temporarily the export of diesel fuel from the country for non-producers, he said, "In this part, we can agree with the position that non-producers need to be restricted."
Commenting on the topic of a possible extension of the permission to export gasoline until July, the head of the FAS noted that exchange prices for gasoline were currently "relatively stable."
"The decision will be made based on the volume of reserves and the market situation. The decision will be made, first, by the Energy Ministry. We have not received any documents yet," Shaskolsky said.
It was reported earlier that the government was discussing measures to temporarily ban the export of diesel fuel from the country for non-producers - traders, oil depots and other participants in the fuel market. As resellers, they take abroad volumes that are intended for the domestic market and for which a damper has been paid.
As reported, the Russian government introduced a temporary ban on gasoline exports from March 1, 2024 for a period of six months - until August 31. However, on May 20, the embargo on gasoline exports from the Russian Federation was suspended owing to the risk of overstocking the domestic market. Now, gasoline exports are allowed until June 30.
