Passenger traffic on int'l routes in Russia up 23.8% in Jan-May 2024 - Transport Ministry
MOSCOW. June 13 (Interfax) - Passenger traffic on international routes in Russia increased 23.8% in January-May 2024 to over 10 million people, with China, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates among the leading transport routes, Russian Deputy Transport Minister Vladimir Poteshkin said.
"Also I'd like to say that we already see a 23.8% growth on international routes in the first five months [of the year]. That means that if there were 7.8 million passengers on international routes last year, this year we have already topped 10 million," Poteshkin said at a plenary session of the Travel forum at Moscow's VDNKh exhibition center when commenting on the potential for inbound tourism in Russia.
"We also have an increase on the routes with China, the Emirates route also enjoys, and Turkey is also among the leaders of our top three. We as the Transport Ministry are certainly working on updating our relations in air travel annually, regularly reviewing the terms of agreements to allow tourists from all countries to come to our country and to allow our citizens to visit foreign countries," he said.
