Ukraine completes talks on exports of poultry, pork, eggs to U.S

MOSCOW. June 3 (Interfax) - Ukraine has agreed to expand exports of poultry meat, pork and egg products to the United States and is ending talks on exports of egg products to Canada, Ukrainian State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection Sergei Tkachuk said, after he attended the General Session of the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) in Paris.

The Ukrainian delegation held over 20 meetings with international partners during the session, Ukrainian media reported, citing the food safety watchdog's press service. The opening of markets for the export of products from Ukraine and sharing experience in digitalization and online services are among the priorities.

"Export of Ukrainian products is one of the most important subjects for discussion with international partners. Besides, we focused on digitalization and developing online services. There are agreements with Canada, the United States and Moldova to organize events for detailed study of online systems and sharing experience between specialists," Tkachuk said.

The meeting with the U.S. delegation resulted in an agreement to expand the list for the export of poultry meat, pork and egg products to the U.S., Tkachuk said. Additionally, the requirements for the export of egg products to Canada have been finally agreed upon, and the harmonization process is being finalized.

"A very important case of Ukraine at this year's WOAH session is that we are currently at the final stretch with regard to joining the European Commission for the Control of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (EuFMD). This is essential, as this will allow us to learn from the experience of our European colleagues and respond to emerging threats swiftly and effectively," Tkachuk said.

The Ukrainian delegation also held talks with their counterparts from Singapore, Japan, Qatar, Poland, Moldova, Kazakhstan and the Czech Republic during the 91st WOAH General Session.
