Azerbaijan increases gas shipments to Turkey 2% in Q1
BAKU. May 30 (Interfax) - Azerbaijan exported 2.674 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas to Turkey from the Shah Deniz field in the first quarter of 2024, a 2.1% increase versus Q1 of last year, information from the Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Council (EPDK) shows.
There were 1.021 bcm of Azerbaijani gas supplied to Turkey in March (an increase of 10.6% versus March of last year). Gas exports to Turkey in March totaled nearly 4.318 bcm (a 5.3% decrease), including 3.075 bcm of pipeline gas (71.22% of all supplies, an increase of 0.17%) and 1.242 bcm of LNG (28.78% of all supplies, a decrease of 16.49%). Azerbaijan's share in supplies to Turkey is 23.6%.
Gas is supplied to Turkey from seven countries (Azerbaijan, Russia, Iran by pipelines; the United States, Algeria, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago as LNG). Meanwhile, Azerbaijan took second place in terms of supply volumes in March. Russia is in first place, with 41.8% of all supplies, with Algeria in third (12%) and the U.S. in fourth (8.1%).
As reported, according to EPDK, Azerbaijan exported over 10.257 bcm of gas from the Shah Deniz field to Turkey in 2023 (an increase of 17.8% compared to 2022).
Azerbaijani gas produced as part of Stage-1 and Stage-2 of the development of the Shah Deniz field goes to Turkey.
