Ukraine completes revamping of border checkpoint with Poland under USAID project
MOSCOW. May 29 (Interfax) - Work on retrofitting the Yagodin-Dorohusk checkpoint on the border with Poland under the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) project "Economic Support for Ukraine" has been completed, Ukrainian media reported on Wednesday, citing the Restoration Ministry.
"There are 10 modular buildings installed here: four sanitation facilities and six offices for processing documents. All premises are adapted for people with disabilities. Each modular office is fully insulated and furnished, equipped with heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, and connected to communication lines," the ministry said in a message on social media.
The road surface was replaced, sidewalks and curbs were repaired, rainwater drainage system was fixed, and metal fences were painted, it said.
"More than 450 LED lights and lamps, two mobile dynamic scales for vehicles were installed," the ministry said.
The Yagodin-Dorohusk railway crossing is still being retrofitted. A 50 kW diesel generator has already been mounted there to ensure continuous operation during power outages and IT equipment, in particular, printers, laptops, computers and uninterruptible power outlets have been delivered to the checkpoint, the statement said.
The ministry noted that the USAID allocated $115 million for 2023-2026 through its Economic Support for Ukraine project to back the Ukrainian government, in particular, the Ministry of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure, the State Agency for Infrastructure Rehabilitation and Development, and the State Customs Service. Additionally, some funds are earmarked for Ukrainian Railways to upgrade 42 border checkpoints.
