IMEMO and Interfax sign cooperation agreement

Interfax Group and the National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IMEMO) have signed a cooperation agreement.

The agreement is aimed at establishing relations of partnership between Interfax Group and IMEMO with the purpose of introducing advanced digital solutions in fundamental and applied research and popularizing science.

"It is difficult to overestimate the role of responsible mass media in the world today. All leaders of the world industry of think tanks have started concentrating attention on promoting their knowledge in the public and professional circles. The combined potentials of IMEMO, named after Yevgeny Primakov, and Interfax will help to better inform the Russian and world public. The Interfax digital technologies and big data will reinforce the IMEMO expertise in research, expert work and consultations," IMEMO President Alexander Dynkin said.

"We are glad to be partners with a generally-recognized leading Russian think tank in the sphere of world politics and economy and hope that noticeable research, information and analytical projects will be carried out in the framework of this cooperation," Interfax CEO Mikhail Komissar said.

In addition to integrating Interfax digital solutions in the IMEMO research processes, in the framework of the agreement the sides are planning to create possibilities for a public debate on important events affecting the country's economy and its position in the world.

Namely, the joint project of Interfax and IMEMO Online Primakov Readings will be implemented with the support of the Gorchakov Fund. A series of online discussions involving prominent Russian and foreign experts, political and public figures will be held at the agency's floor under the brand name of the influential international forum.

The Institute of World Economy and International Relations (IMEMO) was established in 1956 and rapidly gained the reputation of an influential and unparalleled center of compressive fundamental and applied socio-economic, political and strategic studies in the country set on analyzing key tendencies of world development. IMEMO remains a unique analytical center in the scope of the problems it studies and the comprehensiveness of its scientific agenda.

IMEMO developed national political science and economic theory, worked out the prognostic and analytical foundation for political decision-making. The institute's economists and political scientists focused and continue to focus on issues related to globalization tendencies, new international security challenges, and qualitative changes in the economic and political system.

Since August 2015, the institute has been named after Yevgeny Primakov. IMEMO is the main organizer of Primakov Readings forum.
