Interfax opens bureau and press center in Voronezh

Interfax-Center news agency, a member of Interfax Information Services Group, has opened a bureau and press center in Voronezh.

The press center in Voronezh is the second information outlet for Interfax-Center, which was established in early 2004 to cover events in the Central Federal District. Earlier, the agency opened a press center in Yaroslavl.

"The Voronezh region is one of the fastest growing regions in Central Russia. It has a huge research and production potential and we have much to tell the Russian community," Vladimir Kulakov, governor of Voronezh region, said at the opening ceremony. "I‘m convinced that the opening of a press center in Voronezh by such a large information agency as Interfax will help create a positive image of the Voronezh region and give the authorities and businesses one more opportunity to demonstrate their information openness to Russian and foreign investors," he said.
Interfax-Center General Director Leonid Persky said: "Over the year, Interfax-Center has set up bureaus in most of the Central Russian regions." "The formation of a network of press centers will be the next important step in shaping a powerful and modern information infrastructure in the district," Persky said.

The development of Interfax-Center agency is part of Interfax Group‘s program to energetically expand in Russia‘s regions. Interfax-Center‘s main office is in Moscow and its representatives work in nearly all regions of the Central Federal District, including the Yaroslavl, Ryazan, Lipetsk, Bryansk, Tambov, Kaluga, Tver and Belgorod regions.

The Group has also established major regional agencies in the Northwestern (Interfax-Northwest), Volga (Interfax-Volga), Southern (Interfax-South), Urals (Interfax-Urals) and Siberian (Interfax-Siberia) Federal Districts.

Each of these agencies runs its own newswire combining local and federal news for the mass media, government bodies, banks and companies.
